I was invited to check out City Food tours’ Chocolate, Desserts & Wine Tour of the Upper West Side and it was a really fun experience!

Migration of Senses, who put on the amazing Chocolate & I series this past February is kicking off a series of Wednesday chocolate events starting with a Michel Cluizel tasting on 4/28. Space is limited, so rsvp soon!

L’Arte Del Gelato in collaboration with Valrhona Chocolate will be serving up special chocolate gelatos (11 kinds!) at a special price ($2) and all proceeds will benefit sick children. What’s not to like?!

Here’s my take on the custom truffles featured at the Artisanal Premium Cheese Center’s “Decadent Chocolate and Sinful Cheese with Pastry Chef Colleen Riley” last weekend. I was excited to attend this tasting; which incorporated wine, cheese, and chocolate! Photos below:

  I got to attend this year’s Global Giving Circle Gala to launch the Global Cocoa Project, the event was to benefit the people of Haiti and cocoa farmers worldwide.

The third night of Chocolate & I was another winner (despite the blizzard) and I got to try some more wonderful chocolate! I’ve been meaning to give MarieBelle a visit and after tonight’s “Some Like it Haute” event, a sampling of their truffles and hot chocolate, my resolve has strengthened!

Reminder – Global Giving Circle party is tonight! Blame it on the upcoming V-day, but there are a load of amazing tasting events within the next week (and not just the Chocolate and I events)! Here are two that stand out!

  I just got back from my first trip to France for the Angoulême Comic Festival and I made a stop in Paris on the way back! Here are some pictures I took at Angoulême!

For those who are looking for a (slightly) less guilty indulgence as the year starts, you may want to check out Chelsea’s Cocoa V. A vegan chocolate boutique, their products are vegan, organic, and fair trade (also delicious). A nice way to start 2010!

I think Fling is only officially available in CA currently, but my source said she found them at a local discount shop in NYC, so keep an eye out.

The folks at Norman Love were kind enough to send over a Holiday sampler and wow are these things gorgeous! I’ve admired and enjoyed Norman Love’s chocolates at food shows, but this was my first time seeing the full package and it is beautiful.

This has been quite a weekend. Two book signings, the Chile Pepper Fiesta, and the Atlantic Antic. Somehow, I’ve managed to survive all of the fun I’ve been having ^_^ Anyway, here is a photo parade from Saturday’s Chile Pepper Fiesta at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

  This being my second Fancy Food Show, I learned from last year and started from the lower floor where there were more sweets and less chance of being distracted by all the (seemingly thousands of) different types of cheeses and olives on the third floor. Now that’s what I call a real cheese cake!
