I’m always up for Afternoon Tea and I recently got to try the  new tea service at Double Crown (316 Bowery at Bleecker). They’re serving it on weekends from 3:30-5:30. I recommend it for a leisurely snack in exotically elegant surroundings. Look at the yummy scones! More photos below…

The Strong Buzz reports: In honor of National Waffle Day, on Monday August 24th the Wafles & Dinges truck (parked at Fifth Avenue between 23rd and 22nd Street in the Flatiron), will give away free waffles for one hour (11:30 am – 12:30 pm). And they’ll be giving away free dinges (toppings) all day long!

After the sadness of reporting two beloved places closing (Luxee and Divalicious Chocolate, not to mention Dessert Truck), time for some good news! Israeli gelato chain Screme has arrived in NYC!

  Today is the last day Luxee is open and I had a farewell souffle. So good! They grated fresh parmesan cheese on top, for that sweet/savory combo. So light and fluffy. It’s sad to know I may never eat it again! Sob! Anyway, if you’re reading this today I’d recommend visiting Luxee at 6 [...]

Unfortunately before The L Magazine was able to post this comic I did, Divalicious Chocolate closed their cafe. BUT they are still in business renting chocolate fountains and setting up events as well as selling cool shirts and such on their site here. One of the things I tried from the Fancy Food Show (yes, I’m still going through my notes from that event!) is the Carrot Cake Cocoa Butter Caramel from Amella. Like a mini piece of carrot cake in soft candy form.
