  The Jewish holiday of Purim is this weekend (from sunset 2/27-sunset 2/28) and a fun aspect of it is the sweets! Specifically, the tradition of Shalach Manot (aka Mishloach Manot or Shalach Monos) which is a gift basket sent to friends and relatives around Purim time.

I’m very sad to report that Vere Chocolate (creator of outstanding vegan and diabetic friendly chocolate) is closing for good. BUT, they will be having a blowout sale tomorrow (2/25)! I got to attend this year’s Coffee and Tea Festival and had a fun time! There were a lot of the same exhibitors as last year, but the venue was different this year (7W instead of the Metropolitan Pavilion) and I think it suited the festival better. Above is a photo of Tea Beyond‘s wares. [...]

Here’s my take on the custom truffles featured at the Artisanal Premium Cheese Center’s “Decadent Chocolate and Sinful Cheese with Pastry Chef Colleen Riley” last weekend. I was excited to attend this tasting; which incorporated wine, cheese, and chocolate! Photos below:

I got to attend this year’s Global Giving Circle Gala to launch the Global Cocoa Project, the event was to benefit the people of Haiti and cocoa farmers worldwide.

The third night of Chocolate & I was another winner (despite the blizzard) and I got to try some more wonderful chocolate! I’ve been meaning to give MarieBelle a visit and after tonight’s “Some Like it Haute” event, a sampling of their truffles and hot chocolate, my resolve has strengthened!

Reminder – Global Giving Circle party is tonight! Blame it on the upcoming V-day, but there are a load of amazing tasting events within the next week (and not just the Chocolate and I events)! Here are two that stand out!
