New gelato in NYC, Screme!
After the sadness of reporting two beloved places closing (Luxee and Divalicious Chocolate, not to mention Dessert Truck), time for some good news! Israeli gelato chain Screme has arrived in NYC!
I got to attend a tasting at their Madame Tussaud’s Museum location at 234 W. 42nd St., yes you can ogle wax sculptures while enjoying these creamy treats!
Apparently they have 5000 flavors which change daily including a large selection of dairy-free sorbets, and it’s all kosher so there’s something for everyone here.
I normally go straight for the chocolate when it comes to gelato and ice cream, but the sorbets were so creamy and delicious I spent a lot of time tasting them.
I especially liked the kiwi and peach flavored sorbets.
They had some very creative flavors such as Napolean (with a Phyllo crust, pictured above), Fig & Tequila, Chocolate & Whisky, Mojito, Sesame (with Halvah), and many more. They’re not cheap at $5 per small, but the quality and variety is spot on.
A somber wax Nick Cage stands guard before the lovely Screme sorbets.
